Leeds United (15/2 to be relegated) have been hit with another injury blow after boss Marcelo Bielsa confirmed Patrick Bamford has now suffered a fresh setback in his return to full fitness.
The England international had been expected to play against West Ham United last week, but he was absent as Leeds ran out 3-2 winners at the London Stadium.
On Saturday, Leeds face Newcastle United at Elland Road, and supporters had expected their star striker to feature (Match Betting – Leeds EVS, Draw 11/4, Newcastle 13/5).
However, Bielsa confirmed Bamford will miss out once again, revealing he has now suffered a foot injury.
Discussing the club’s ongoing injury woes, Bielsa said: “(Adam) Forshaw and (Junior) Firpo have muscular injuries, and Bamford has a new injury.
“He has overcome his muscular issues, but now he has an issue at the bottom of his foot.”
Bamford has only made six appearances this season in the Premier League due to repeated injury issues.
He last played in December, scoring the equaliser against Brentford in a 2-2 draw at home.
Bielsa’s numbers are limited but he could have three players back this weekend, while Rodrigo picked up no fresh knock after returning from injury against the Hammers.
The Argentinean added: “Llorente and probably Tyler Roberts and (Joe) Gelhardt. We maintain the presence of Rodrigo, who played 30 minutes last week.”
Leeds are nine points clear of the bottom three after successive victories, while Newcastle (10/11 to be relegated) can move up one place into 18th with all three points.
