Outsiders to put pressure on favourite MacIntyre

The DP World Tour makes its first visit of the 2022 campaign to the United Kingdom, with the Betfred British Masters set to dominate the headlines this weekend at The Belfry.

Sheffield’s Danny Willett, who famously won The Masters at Augusta National in 2016, will host this year’s event, with Betfred paying ten places across the weekend.

Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre remains the pre-tournament favourite at 16/1, while Adrian Meronk is hot on his tail at 18/1, but with ten places up for grabs, punters will want to look further down the field to try and give themselves a run for their money.

Richard Bland will try to defend his title this weekend on his 500th Tour start after winning his first DP World Tour title at the 478th attempt last year.

He became the oldest winner on the Tour at 48 years and 101 days, and punters can back Bland to defend his crown at 28/1.

South Africa’s Oliver Bekker climbed up to 89th spot in the world rankings last weekend after finishing as runner-up in the Catalunya Championship.

He has now recorded six top-10 finishes in his last nine starts, and at 30/1, he could give punters a run for their money.

Andy Sullivan has missed three cuts on the spin, which is not ideal form, but he does have a phenomenal record around The Belfry.

Sullivan has finished in the top ten in three of the last four editions of the event, and with ten places up for grabs, he is one to consider at 100/1.

Italy’s Guido Migliozzi lost in the playoff to Bland 12 months ago, and he is also 100/1, while there’s some good value to be had by backing world number 156 Adrian Otaegui, who has registered three top-10 finishes from his last six starts and can be backed at 35/1.
