Tigers rocked by Turner injury

Ahead of Thursday’s derby clash against Wakefield Trinity in the Betfred Super League, Castleford Tigers coach Lee Radford has revealed Jordan Turner could miss the rest of the season through injury (Wakefield 6/5, Draw 18/1, Castleford 8/11 – Match winner).

The 33-year-old suffered a shoulder injury during last week’s 34-10 Betfred Challenge Cup defeat to Hull KR, and he now faces a long lay-off as he recovers.

Since joining last season, Turner has played a crucial role for the Tigers, scoring 19 tries in just 28 matches.

Radford’s side have only won two of their opening seven games in Super League, and the former Hull FC coach admits his side could be without Turner until 2023.

He told BBC Radio Leeds: “It’s not looking good. He’s going to see the second specialist on Friday, it’s going to be a long-term one, and he’ll need an operation.

“We’ll know more probably next Friday; we’ll have confirmation then.”

Thursday’s early kick-off sees Catalans Dragons host Toulouse at 19:30 in the first French derby in Super League history (Catalans 1/11, Draw 25/1, Toulouse 7/1 – Match winner).

Catalans boss Steve McNamara will be without Sam Tomkins and Gil Dudson for what’s expected to be a fiery encounter against a Toulouse outfit that have only won once so far this season.

Leeds Rhinos and Huddersfield Giants will clash at 20:00, while Warrington Wolves face Salford Red Devils at the same time (Leeds 5/6, Draw 18/1, Huddersfield 21/20 – Match winner).

The Rhinos are still to appoint a successor to Richard Agar, and they will be without Aidan Sezer, David Fusitu’a and Richie Myler, meaning Huddersfield will fancy their chances of winning their sixth game of the campaign.

Warrington Wolves have yet to sparkle under Daryl Powell, but with Salford making the trip to the Halliwell Jones Stadium, Powell’s men may get back to winning ways after a tough few weeks (Warrington 1/4, Draw 20/1, Salford 11/4 – Match winner).
