Despite his nickname, six of Dan ‘$50k’ Ige’s last seven fight have gone to the judges but he is rarely in a boring fight that’s for sure.
He comes into this fight off the back of three losses in his last four fights but that includes decision losses to Calvin Kattar and The Korean Zombie who are elite in this division.
His opponent is an undefeated fighter in Movsar Evloev who is 15-0 and 5-0 in the UFC promotion.
All of his last five fights have required a judge’s decision and this includes one where the judges did not unanimously agree that he won the fight.
Dan Ige has the advantage on the feet in this match up.
He is a very competent boxer who has a lot of power in his hands and his take down defence is also very good.
Evloev is a grappler and this is clearly his pathway to victory and this fight will take place on the canvas at some point I am sure of that.
He has drowned his opponent’s in the past to win a dominant decision with his wrestling but he struggled to be a submission threat which is a hole in his game in my opinion.
Wrestling is the most important discipline in MMA today but Dan Ige offers a threat on the feet that Evloev hasn’t faced before.
That is where the value lies in this contest.
