Lakers stunned by Portland Trail Blazers

The Los Angeles Lakers’ title hopes were dealt a blow on Wednesday as they were beaten 107-105 by the Portland Trail Blazers (Lakers 20/1 to win the NBA Championship – Outright).

The Trail Blazers ended a six-game losing streak thanks to Anfernee Simons and Jusuf Nurkic, who combined for 48 points.

LeBron James scored 30 points for the Lakers, while Justise Winslow and Greg Brown III scored 11 points, but it was not enough as the Lakers lost for the sixth time in eight games.

A back injury forced Russell Westbrook to miss his first game of the season for the Lakers, and coach Frank Vogel needs to find a solution, with Westbrook recently criticising his decisions.

The Golden State Warriors (4/1) were also unable to win on Tuesday as they went down 111-85 to the Utah Jazz.

Bojan Bogdanovic led six players in double figures with 23 points as his side ended the Warriors’ nine-game winning streak.

Utah’s fourth consecutive win means they are now 14/1 to win the NBA Championship, and they continue to lead the Western Conference Northwest.

The Sacramento Kings beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 132-1119 thanks to 22 points and 14 rebounds from Domantas Sabonis on his debut, while Darius Garland scored 27 points during the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 105-92 success over the San Antonio Spurs.

The Warriors are back in action on Friday as they face the New York Knicks, while there’s a mouthwatering tie to look forward to between the Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks (Suns 8/13, Bucks 13/10).

Elsewhere, the Houston Rockets face the Toronto Raptors, while a close game is expected between the Washington Wizards and Brooklyn Nets.
