Premier League Betting Odds: Lampard confirms Mina blow

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard

Everton (4/1 to be relegated) manager Frank Lampard has revealed defender Yerry Mina is facing “eight to 10 weeks” on the sidelines after sustaining “a strong injury around his quad” in the defeat to Newcastle United.

Colombia international Mina, who arrived on Merseyside in 2018, suffered the injury to his quad in the first half of the clash at St James’ Park on Tuesday evening and was subsequently substituted for Jarrad Branthwaite.

The 27-year-old’s absence proved to be a big one as the Toffees, who were level at 0-0 when he went off, ended up losing the game 3-1 and getting dragged even deeper into a relegation battle.

Lampard has now revealed Mina, who has only played 10 league matches this season but has been in the side for four of their five wins and two of their four draws, will be missing for a lengthy period of time.

“Yerry Mina has an unfortunate injury which will be probably between eight to 10 weeks,” he told reporters. “It’s a strong injury around his quad. It’s disappointing for us all. In the week I’ve been here, I’ve realised he’s a big leader in the group and a top player obviously for us, so a big miss.”

Everton play host to Leeds United on Saturday, with just one place and four points separating the two teams, and a victory for either side would help them massively in the battle to avoid the drop (Everton 11/8, Draw 5/2, Leeds 2/1 – Match Betting).

Lampard will also be without the services of Demarai Gray, who also came off injured during that defeat to Newcastle because of a hip problem, but the manager hopes to have the winger available for next week’s trip to Southampton.

Vitalii Mykolenko is another player that remains unavailable, although he will be ready for the game against the Saints, but there is better news for the Toffees after it was confirmed Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be in the matchday squad for the Leeds clash.
