Promotion hopefuls eye important victories

With no Premier League games this weekend, the Championship will be the focus for many on Saturday and there are important games at the top and bottom of the table.

There are nine matches in total on Saturday in the second tier, with automatic promotion hopefuls Fulham, Bournemouth, QPR, Blackburn and West Brom all in action.

Fulham look well on course for a swift return to the Premier League as the Cottagers have opened up a five-point lead over second-placed Blackburn and Marco Silva’s men also have a game in hand.

They host a Blackpool side, who are eight points off the top six, in one of eight 3pm kick-offs and Fulham will be confident of making it five league wins on the bounce.

Backing a home win and both to score at 15/8 may well be wise in this as that has been the outcome in Fulham’s last three victories and the Seasiders, who have won their last two matches 1-0, have scored in each of their last five Championship outings.

Elsewhere, Blackburn responded to the shock 2-0 defeat at Hull with a narrow 1-0 success over Middlesbrough on Monday but it’s fair to say Tony Mowbray’s men are not firing on all cylinders at the moment.

Rovers go to Luton at 3pm and this will be another test of their promotion credentials as the Hatters have won three of their last four league games.

Town are only six points off the top six themselves with two games in hand on both Huddersfield and Nottingham Forest, who are currently sixth and seventh. It looks like being a tight clash at Kenilworth Road and a draw, available at 23/10, wouldn’t be a surprise.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth’s promotion ambitions have been hit by two consecutive defeats to Luton and Hull but they should have more than enough to see off rock-bottom Barnsley at Oakwell.

The Tykes are eight points adrift of safety going into this weekend’s games and have lost seven of their last 10 league matches, including the last three. An away win is on offer at 7/10.

The likes of QPR, West Brom and Sheffield United are all in action on Saturday and you can check out all the other matches and relevant markets on the Betfred side by clicking this link.
