Spurs lead the way with busy deadline day

Tottenham (13/8 Top four finish) have signed Juventus pair Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski, while Tanguy Ndombele leads the departures on what has been a manic day in North London.

Antonio Conte has made no secret of his desire to acquire more players during the January transfer window and now he has finally got his wish.

Uruguayan midfielder Bentancur, who was a target for Aston Villa earlier in this window, has been a regular in the Juventus line up this season but has been allowed to leave.

He has penned a four-and-a-half-year deal at Spurs and has cost just under £16million.

Kulusevski joins on an initial 18-month loan deal which will cost around £8million and an option to buy him for £29million has also been attached.

The 21-year-old attacker has been mainly used as a substitute this season by Max Allegri and will help ease the burden on Son Heung-min and Harry Kane.

Meanwhile, Tanguy Ndombele’s time in the Premier League has come to end as he has rejoined former club Lyon on loan until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old Frenchman was Spurs’ record signing in 2019 as Mauricio Pochettino snared him from the French Ligue 1 for £63million.

However, upon Pochettino’s departure, he could never establish himself as a first-choice player under successors Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, and Conte.

His final appearances saw him unhappily trudge off the field in a 3-1 FA Cup win against Morecambe earlier this month.

Winger Bryan Gil has also left Spurs to join Valencia on loan until the end of the season after failing to start a Premier League game since his summer move from Sevilla.

Bentancur and Kulusevski will be hoping to make their debuts for Spurs in the FA Cup at home to Brighton (Match betting – Tottenham 17/20, draw 5/2, Brighton 3/1) on Saturday.
